Power Battery Pack

The R100 EMARK certification of the power battery pack is an important certification for the power battery system (REESS) in new energy vehicles. It is one of the necessary conditions for entering the European market. The following is some key information about the R100 EMARK certification of the power battery pack:

1.The importance of E-Mark certification:

E-Mark certification is a regulatory requirement of the European Common Market for automobiles, motorcycles and their safety spare parts, noise and exhaust gases. Only vehicle-related products that have obtained E-Mark certification can be legally sold in Europe.

2. Overview of test projects:

Power battery packs must pass a series of tests, including

Vibration testing,

Temperature shock cycle test,

mechanical impact,

mechanical structural integrity,

fire test,

External short circuit protection,

Overcharge protection,

Over-discharge protection,

Over-temperature protection and over-current protection, etc.

These tests are designed to ensure the safety and reliability of battery packs under various extreme conditions.

3. Test conditions and requirements:

During the vibration test, the battery pack needs to simulate the impact of vehicle driving, and there must be no electrolyte leakage, penetration, air leakage, fire or explosion. In the fire test, the battery pack needs to withstand the impact of the fire source without exploding.

4. Regulation updates:

On July 2, 2021, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) officially released the 03 series of revision documents (referred to as: ECE R100.03 version) on the UN ECE R100 regulations for automotive power batteries. This revision will take effect immediately from the date of release. The updated content includes modifications to vehicle high-voltage safety, battery system failure and low-battery alarm requirements, and test qualification conditions.

5. Effectiveness and transition dates of regulations:

According to the provisions of the UNECE R100.03 version of the regulations, starting from September 1, 2023, contracting states that recognize this version of the regulations can choose whether to recognize new certificates applied for in accordance with the old version of the regulations. Until September 1, 2025, these contracting states must recognize certificates issued before September 1, 2023 that were applied for under the old version of the regulations.

6. Professional services:

SRC-TEST has extensive experience in vehicle and component type certification as well as E-Mark certification for power battery packs. It can provide customers with professional regulatory interpretation and product development stage guidance to help products successfully pass E-Mark type certification.

R100 EMARK certification for power battery packs is a complex process that requires manufacturers to have an in-depth understanding of relevant regulatory requirements and ensure that their products can meet all safety and performance standards. By cooperating with professional certification bodies, manufacturers can complete the certification process more efficiently and ensure that their products can enter the European market smoothly.
